23 of Dad's class of 1968 Veterinarians came and after 40 years many had changed! Luckily they meet every 5 years so they are still recognizable to each other. Name tags helped too!

We're at Pt. Lobos and Dad is talking with Dan Blake, one of his closer friends.

Our room overlooked the Pacific Ocean and for a brief couple of hours it wasn't foggy. Unfortunately that wasn't when I took a picture!

We drove by our first home at 549 Jesse James Drive in San Jose. We only lived there for about a year and a half and were glad to find it looking well cared for. We could see over the side fence an apple tree Dad had planted 38 years ago with nice apples on it!

This picture is dedicated to Jennifer and Benjamin. There were several tanks of jellys, and this is one of the poisonous ones.

We had a wonderful time! I don't imagine there is much interest in these, but I decided to share them anyway to let you know what we were up to! Now we would love to see more of yours! Just every day happenings: walking or feeding your dog, the family eating pizza, taking out the garbage, asleep on the sofa ------ it doesn't matter! Dad and I so enjoy seeing you!!!!!!
Some things I'm hoping to see: Alisa, your Washington DC trip; Jen, how about a picture of your canned peaches or anything the kids are doing? Jill, how about your open suitcase with clothes everywhere or Thain's missing tonsils? John and Cris, your new kitchen cabinets or Colby in uniform at a game? Jeremy and Kathryn, your kitchen rearranged or the dogs playing or getting the mail or the trees changing color; Justin, more Zoey! I should pick on Nate and Thain too! Some of you are great with your contributions, but your mother is greedy and wants more!!!!! Love to each of you!
Sorry about the huge space between a couple of the pictures. I tried many things but nothing worked. I've learned before if I leave it, the whole blog disappears!

Random thought.

Two heads are better then one even if one is a sheep head.

Visit home and Other ramblings from Jill

Pics pics pics :). I was just recently
home for a week and had a great time
visiting with Mom and Dad, I got to
get a pedicure with Mom and Sarah and
go shopping for my birthday and play
poker with Mom and Dad and Jeremy
and Kathryn and visit with John and
Cris and Colby and Bri on Dad's birthday
and got to take Bri out for a fun day
for her birthday and see the rennovations
coming along on John and Cris's house. :).
I'm so glad I had that time with everyone
but ended up missing Thain a lot too. He's
doing better and better with his troat and
nose surgery. He had been not eating much
for awhile and it hurts him to swallow too
much or talk too much after awhile but he's
getting better and better. :). We went up
to visit with some of his family yesterday and
are getting ready for Europe in wich we are leaving on this Thursday! Yikes it's
coming up quickly. Well anyhow I didn't take many pics of the goings on lately but
I took some pics of John and Cris's rennovations
thinking that others would like to see them too but I think now everyone has but
anyhow here they are there's some cute one's of some of the John Dunlaps and
Jeremy and Kathryn anyhow and as they don't post as much it's fun to see more of
them! :). Also maybe it will give me some more blogging points for the big blogging contest! :)>

Happy Birthday to Dad!

We missed you Blaines, Justin, Alisa, and Thain! Dad, Granny, and Jill sharing the day made for quite a party! Dad had fun with the poppers from not Jill, but Jeremy and Kathryn!
Jeremy is stuffing the contents back in so Aiden can do one too! In the meantime Aiden and Jill and Cris and gang discovered that waving cards could really make the confetti fly!
Now we are ready to play hand and foot again with a shuffler that works! Hope you can join us while it still does!
This wasn't quite the big pop everyone was expecting!
Jeremy bringing in the cake should have been the first photo, but ............! We had a very yummy Costco vanilla cake with vanilla cheesecake filling and chocolate frosting after feasting on fresh apples with caramel and/or peanut butter dip, enchiladas, chile rellenos, Spanish Rice , and a salad bar. It was a fun evening which I want to share with those unable to make it! We thought of you and remembered the great recent visits we had with you! Just a reminder that you can click on the pictures and make them big!
Hmmmm, do you think if I offer a bonus gift at Christmas to the one contributing the most blogs and/or comments we could get more participation?????

Paradise Fun Time

Just wanted to post a few pictures from our great trip to Paradise. I hope Jill and Thain are enjoying their trip as much as we enjoyed ours!

First, here are a couple picture of an up and comping soccer star:

Second, here are a couple pictures of a couple of cute nephews with a cute puppy. I hope Colby's football playing friends doesn't see what a softie he is.

Finally, let me finish with a resubmission for our cutest picture of the cutest pet competition:

This picture is my current wallpaper on my computer and I worry (in a good way) every time I see it that Zoey is going to reach out and give my face a big lick.

The lake at its calmest! Can you see the sad remnants of the fire with the burned areas from this summer?
The name on the back of Brianna's shirt is "Banana" - she told me that their nick names were printed when I told here they misspelled her name.
Justin and Alisa taking a break from cooking a scrumptious dinner for her mom, Chuck, Dad and me.
Justin putting back his find at Bille Park with Zoe's help.

Cris and her little helper!

End of summer fun!

I hope this will let me post more pictures! But it's not. So I guess I will publish this and try to add on and if that doesn't work, start a new one!

Dad and I have had a fun few weeks! From helping Cris celebrate her birthday; spending four blissful nights on Lake Shasta in the Diplomat houseboat and Dad catching 1 bass and oooooodles of large trout and salmon; returning to Paradise and meeting and falling in love with Zoey (of course we enjoyed the company of Alisa and Justin as well!); to watching Brianna play soccer (as goalie even!). The water level on the lake was low, but didn't dampen any of our activities! Justin located a geo...... (I forget the name of it) using co-ordinates from a web site with help from Zoe on a hike at Bille Park. Who knows what order the pictures will appear, but here they are!

2009 Calendar

So, Jill told me to hurry up and assign the calendar out. Bossy, bossy! Look who's taking my place in the family... :) Anyway, here it is. If you don't like, then you be in charge. :)

I am assigning everyone two months. I think it would be fun if at least one month was Hawaii pictures, because so many of you have such gorgeous pictures. Your other month do as you please. Also, make your own family the stars of your months. That way no one complains about the picture selections. Not that you do, but it's a fair way to do it.

The deadline is Thanksgiving. If I don't get anything from you by then, I'll design your pages for you for a nominal fee.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, you are all invited out here again. I will miss John and Cris (because of Costa Rica and Disneyland) and Jeremy and Kathryn (I am assuming it's your year with the Slocums), and anyone else who can't make it. All are welcome though.

Here it is:

January and July: Mom and Dad
February and August: John, Cris, Colby, Bri, Aiden, and Chewy
March and September: Jen, Nate, Emily, Ben and Deven (not Tiger, since no one thought he/she was cute)
April and October: Jill, Thain, Spunks, and Anderson clan
May and November: Justin, Alisa and Zoe
June and December: Jeremy, Kathryn, and Calla and ? Sorry, I forgot Kathryn's dog's name

Sound good? Email me your pages if you please. That worked great last year. Mom, you can create your pages out here on my computer if you would like. Just email me your pictures you want to use before you come. Or you can get one of your computer savvy kids to tutor you over the phone and do it at home if you would like.

Happy calendar making. Love, Jen

just a random pic thrown in not of our anniversary but of Amber and Spunks, they both look so cute :)
Thain had carved that a year or two ago while we were

cross country skiing the snow must have been 3 feet deep because he was level with the carving when he did it with the ski pole, how sweet huh :)
Me at the overlook over Bear lake.

In the lake

We just got back from celebrating our anniversary. It was really nice. We went up to bear lake to have a very expensive lunch at chevron :). Really that's where we ate, Yes the gas station, we really know how to make an anniversary special :)... but it was really good they had homemade sloppyjoe's and chili stuff and our favorite rasberry milkshakes :). We then parked in the lake, yes we drove out a ways into Bear Lake, it's quite shallow and went for a walk in the water and ate lots of yummy BearLake rasberrys and took a nap on my camping fold up hammock Thain got me for a anniversary gift and then went back to Chevron and got another sloppy joe sandwich. (It was really better then the resteraunt we were planning to eat at wich we found out later was closed anyhow! ) We then drove to Logan and had a nice night at the swiss family robinson room in the Anniversary inn and went for a nice walk and had dinner at a realy nice resteraunt, the Hamilton, halibut and some pasta and cheesecake. We had a really nice time and remanised a little on how two years ago from yesterday we were getting ready to get married up at Huntsville, with the leaves just beggining to change and our familys around us and how special and nice that was, thanks to all of you especially for helping make that day special and all you do in our lives now too:). Thanks so much Mom and Dad for the wonderful anniversary card and money to help us celebrate :). Thain and I were joking that with our lunch choice we knew you'd know your money went to good use ;)>.

How about cutest pet?

This is Tiger. He (she?) lives in our sprinkler box. We see him (her?) about twice a year. Look at that smile!

How could you vote for one of those cute dogs, and break Emily's heart? Just kidding, she doesn't know about the contest yet... :)

The Blaines are alive, just busy with a stomach bug, school, and work, and just keeping up... :)
