There have been a few questions in the comments about our 2011 vacation idea. Justin pretty much summed it up in his reply comment to Jen but I'll flesh it out a bit more. First the caveat...Justin is absolutely 100% correct...if Hawaii is on the table in 2011 I am THERE and this idea can hang in the wings another year/years. However, it sounds like the Blaine's and probably the John Dunlap's may be receptive to our thought.
DisneyWorld January 2011
Specifically, the weekend of the Walt DisneyWorld Marathon, Half Marathon and Family Fun 5k. (That is what the 5k is called!) Our thought was to have the whole family run or walk the 5k (a 5k is 3.1 miles). Justin and I (and anyone else that wants to) would then be run the half marathon and full marathon. If you run the 1/2 and Full it's called the "Goofy Challenge" and you get a special medal. (Just think John Dunlap's you'll get a fun Disney race shirt and I think they give out medals for the 5k too.)
Timing may be difficult on this trip since it would be in January, typically it's the second weekend in January. I know we have teachers in the family and kids in school. They won't announce dates for 2011 until the week after the 2010 race, which is January 7, 8 and 9. The 5k is on Friday, 1/2 marathon on Saturday and full marathon on Sunday. If we did do this idea, I personally would prefer to have the race(s) in the beginning of the trip so I could enjoy the rest of the vacation and not be worrying the whole time.
Other than the timing not being ideal, another hesitation with this idea was the lack of other things to do besides Disney. Then I remembered when I was there in 1994ish I went the Kennedy Space Center (which was awesome) and I also found these links:http://www.floridacasinoreport.com/ ; http://www.worldcasinodirectory.com/florida. (Looks like some of them might be a bit of a drive, about an hour or so.)
Food for thought!

That sounds like so much fun! I'll be anxious to hear all the other's reactions! Looks like you've for sure taken care of Dad!!!!
Way to go, family! We've got great participation! Jeremy and Kathryn, we are eager to hear from you!!!!
You've got John's attention...He is even considering the 5K-I might be up for a 1/2 marathon by then...Not a marathon though...the thought is overwhelming! I'm sure I could beg a few days off and if we flew in on a Thursday or something like that...It would be doable...I'm willing, not sure PUSD would be very pleased. We would just have to be really good about not getting sick and missing school before or after that. It's roughly $35/day in ADA for the kids to miss...So are up for it and it even got a smile and "hey come see the blog" out of John. Maui in the summer sounds amazing too...Let us know and we're there. Let me know soon so I can step up the training (it will take me that long to get ready....-How long is a 1/2 marathon again?)
5k is 3.1
1/2 marathon is 13.1 Marathon is 26.2
Cris, if you (and anyone else is going to do the 1/2) I'd be willing to be a pacer.
I think that sounds fun and differen't I think we'd be up for it for sure, I think I would plan on running the 5k for sure and would love to do that with some family and see or be around for one of yours (alisa and Justin's marathons) I was watching Disney on a dime (travel channel) the other day too and January is in their economical deal times and would be less crowds too so I think that would be a great time! Little Rilan will probably enjoy that too..he'll be about 18 mos??? crazy crazy had a drs appt today all looks good and healthy! :). Dr. said I was ahead of the game on gaining though (isn't it good to be ahead of the game??!) bleh I guess I'll have to cut back a little on the treats!!
thain says everyones ideas sound nifty and wherever the family is we will always have fun.
I apparently misrepresented John-He is in better shape than I am and can run circles around me in case any of you thought differently...What I meant as I wrote and how it was interpreted at least by one person were different indeed....After 16 years you'd think we could communicate by now! Ahead of the game is good Jill! Just not too ahead, because then your out of the game...depending on the game....and who your playing with...Give baby Frank a pat for me. (Someone please come up with a better name that starts with F...
Disney sounds fun to us, but so does Hawaii!! How about two in 2011? :) J/K. Blaines are up for either. They both sound great! Working towards running the race sounds like a fun goal too.
yes deffinetly you'll have to come up with a better f name then frank or fred or any that I've heard if I'm going to change poor Rilan's name.....F is just not the best name letter!! I think I'll let Justin and Alisa or Jeremy or Kathryn worry about the f's!!:). How funny..loved the comments on the game and misinterpreations :). they are common I'm working hard to communicate better and handle relationship frusterations better too, you think it'd be simple but somehow it's not always even after probably 50 years!! :). who knows hope Thain and I make it that long to find out. Ok I'm making this long...Thain wrote out some ideas for events in Utah I'd love to post it soon but I'd like to do so after Jen and Nate and Jeremy and Kathryn post thier 17 facts so get busy Jen/Jeremy or spouses :)>. Yes I will be the family nag...I somehow get the annoying roles down well anyways! :).
Thanks, Jill! I'd love to read their lists also and I keep checking the blog, but don't want the role or worse yet title of "nag"!
I have been keeping Jeremy busy helping me format, use, and send the documents for scoring the PACT calibration test over the computer from the event Cris and I attended this last weekend. Now I wonder if I will even qualify!
