Fire in Paradise!

My friend Nick called me last night letting me know that lower Paradise was being evacuated due to a fire. Thankfully Mom and Dad are out of town, but I called John and Cris to see how they were doing. I didn't want to stay on the phone long as I am sure they had enough to worry about, but I did thankfully get to talk to Cris for a couple of minutes and was reassured that they were stressed but in no immediate danger. They had all three children accounted for and were even packing up the dog and cat. I think they were at the point where they were considering which Star Wars figurines to pack up (ok, my own stupid joke), so I got off the phone feeling that they had things under control.

Anyway, just wanted to share the news and what information I had if anyone didn't know. Here is a link Nick sent me of a map of the fire and some events in the fire's history. ChicoER seems to have the most up to date info on the fire as well.

Hope everyone is doing OK!

Thanks James. I am glad to have one follower seeing as my family rarely (or apparently never in the case of a couple siblings) use this blog... :)

Hi Justin! John just called and mentioned your note on the blog so I am getting right on it. Thanks for the easy click ons! Jen and Nate are on a trek in WY without any electronics and probably don't even know about it. Jill has our 3 Utah grandchildren and has since yesterday, so I doubt she has had an eyelash of a free moment. She will be here soon and I will inform her. Love and thanks!! Mom

Oh, I was just being snarky about nobody following the blog. That and I was partially wondering who Sir James is.

We've been wondering that ourselves! Dad assumes he's from England.

I read this too! Some of us aren't on summer break. Yes, this is a scary situation...hope everyone is doing ok. Really nice that Nick called you. I know my parents both called (or emailed) wondering if everyone up there was okay.

Some of us are too busy on our summer vacation to get to this. Thanks for the lovely pics. I went to Sue Petersen's house last night to see where the fire was headed. She lives at the end of Valley View. I figured it would hit her before Mom and Dad. It was burning bright and fast up the other side of the canyon toward Centerville. I don't know about my brother in law Brent's house, but most of the houses lost were on lower Neal area or at the end of Foster. Colby's friend Brad Williams lost their house (Dave and Kristine-she teaches at Ponderosa) The other family names I've heard are the Scougales (own Paradise Garden Center), the Wiggins, Gerspachers. Those were ones that stuck in my head as I've had the kids at school. I guess it's clear to go return all the scrapebooks and cat to the house, so we'll head over as soon as we know for sure where this fire has gone off to...Love to all, Cris

Oh you don't know James, Justin? Apparantly he's the sbiling nobody told you about ;). J/k but hey his name does start with a J. I'm sure enjoying having the blog and reading things and thanks to you and Jer for all the good info and sights, but yeah I've been so busy lately to reply and update as much as I want but I don't want people to get out of the habit so I will try and make efforts for sure not to get too busy :). though I know you it wasn't a comment you wanted to be taken too seriously. your comments are fun to read :). We are going to Mexico for 10 days tonight though so it will be another little while till I update ours. Thanks Cris for all the updates on the fire too it's so sad those people losing their homes. April called and said it was 100 degrees there and bad winds? It's scary to have something like this so close to home I wish I could help more if anyone knows of ways they need help from people afar let me know. I looked on the papers and even posted a comment but it seems there's animal shelter help needed some but it just had local things to bring or do really. Mom and Dad and Thain and I played cards last night after the kids went to bed it was nice, kept minds of worries I'm sure a little too. This all makes me realize how much more caring I can be for those all over who go through hard times, sometimes I feel so removed from things also how much nicer I could be driving or just with people all the time you know, with crowds and agendas everyone has in society, commom courtesy and caring are just lacking some and I know I don't always help. I don't know why I felt to write that but ok well glad Cris and John are there to handle everything. let me know if there's anything at all I can do to help anyone.
Love lots,
Jill
